Welcome to Bunyanga Bright Primary School!
Welcome to Bunyanga Bright Primary School in Namayili, Bududa! We have one permanent school building, one in need of completion and a small structure in the background that is used as a kitchen, which is currently a work in progress. We opened to pupils in 2019, after Chance Nabweya took over an abandoned school site.
Bunyanga Bright strives to offer an education to all children, regardless of their families ability to pay school fees. To do this, we need pupil sponsors and public donations. The school initially opened to local children who could not afford to go to school, or those who were orphans and had no one to pay their fees. Word of the school quickly spread, with our pupil numbers currently over 120! We need your support to continue educating the children of Namayili and surrounding villages.
Bunyanga Bright has 5 teachers, and is overseen by a small committee from Chance Nabweya. They hold regular parents and community meetings to ensure everyone is involved in everything, and that the school buildings can be used to benefit the community as a whole. Namayili is around 1 1/2 hours drive from Bududa and almost 2 hours away from Mbale. The school is only accessible on foot.
Pupil progress is measured termly, via standard government approved testing and report cards are sent home. Progress in these tests allow pupils to move up to the next year of study.
Recently, UK donors and 3H have enabled us to build new pit latrines. Our original ones were not substantial enough for all of our pupils and staff! 3H are currentlt assisting us in building a permanent kitchen structure.
As our pupils progress with their learning, we have to expand to accomodate a greater range of classes! We need to improve our second building to give us enough classroom space to do this. We also need to explore the need for additional teachers.
Bunyanga Bright Primary recieves no government funding. Feeding the children, paying the teachers, buying school supplies etc, all relies on donations and sponsorship. Sponsoring a child provides them with a school uniform, school supplies, meals and school fees.
Bunyanga Bright pupils are taught key subjects such as maths, literacy and science along with; fitness and personal hygeine, singing, crafts, life skills and religion.
